(1).指 渤海 、 黃海 區(qū)域。 宋 姚寬 《西溪叢語》卷下：“今自 二浙 至 登州 與 密州 ，皆由 北洋 ，水極險(xiǎn)惡?！?br>(2). 清 末指 奉天 (今 遼寧省 )、 直隸 (今 河北省 )、 山東 沿海地區(qū)。設(shè)北洋大臣，由 直隸 總督兼任，統(tǒng)管洋務(wù)、海關(guān)等事。
